Description

Google has $3 billion worth of computers and other equipment in data centers along the Columbia River in The Dalles. The company receives more than $50 million annually in local tax breaks and uses a third of the city's water.

Data centers are proliferating across Oregon, consuming a growing share of the state’s energy, water and industrial land. Gov. Tina Kotek said Tuesday she’s convening a workgroup to take a step back and gauge their impact on the state’s environment and energy supply.
