“It’s amazing how you can see your future one way, but it ends up another,” said Suzie Fowler, who asked that her face not be pictured. “You never think you’re going to be homeless.”

Editor’s note: By the end of the year, Portland and Multnomah County will have 1,100 fewer shelter beds due to budget cuts necessitating the closure of 11 facilities.
