OR State Marine Board release - The Oregon State Marine Board, in partnership with the US Forest Service (Siuslaw National Forest), is excited to announce the beginning of construction at the Sutton Lake boat ramp off Hwy 101, north of Florence. Construction is expected to begin either the last week of July or the first week of August, pending the arrival of materials.  Sutton Lake boat ramp has had intermittent temporary closures since 2021, due to the toe of the launch ramp failing. The condition of the ramp poses a launching risk and potential damage to trailers from the steep drop-off. The ramp underwent temporary repair to keep the site open for boaters until a long-term design and funding could be secured.  The project scope includes replacing the deteriorating concrete boat launch ramp, wood pier, wood gangway, concrete dock, and steel piles, with a new concrete launch ramp and aluminum boarding docks.  Closure of the boat launch begins August 3rd and will likely extend through November 2026, but if construction is completed and approved, it may reopen sooner. The funding sources include $449,497 of Marine Board Boating Facility Grant funds, combined with $210,860 from the US Forest Service for a project total of $660,357.
