Small earthquakes are common off the Oregon coast.

A Magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck off the Oregon Coast on Tuesday. The quake hit in the early afternoon about 250 miles west of Newport at a depth of about 6 miles. Few people appear to have felt it and no injuries or damage was reported, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
