Description

A person was being treated at a hospital Tuesday morning after being shot by police in Salem.

The shooting occurred just before 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 4700 block of State Street.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene after a 911 caller reported being held hostage in the area.

During the incident, deputies shot the suspect, who was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. No deputies were injured.

It’s not yet clear what led to the shooting.

Oregon State Police will lead the investigation.
