Anglers from Vancouver, WA had the thrill of their lives Saturday when they went out of Garibaldi on the North Oregon Coast aiming for some tuna. Oh, they got some tuna, but it was the nine-foot-2-inch striped marlin that brought the crew together. About 50-miles offshore, they got a “fish on”. When it took off and jumped, Kevin Watkins and his sons saw something they’ve never seen before. It was something for the history books. They battled it for over an hour before it surrendered. Marlin are built for tropical seas, but they migrate and this one, weighing in at over 160 lbs., could have caught a warm current north.
