DEAR MISS MANNERS: What is the proper way to refuse a gentleman’s invitation for a date? The little white lie seems wrong, and does not discourage the gentleman from issuing more unwanted invitations.

Military children play an important role in supporting their families and our service members. With more than 6,700 military-connected children across Oregon, we recognize their courage, adaptability, and the unique challenges they face while their loved ones serve our country. The City of Tualatin is proud to celebrate these young individuals and reaffirm our commitment to supporting military families in our community. When parents serve in the military, their kids serve too. This proclamation was adopted at the March 23, 2026 City Council Meeting. We encourage everyone to join us in honoring military children throughout April and to show appreciation for their contributions and sacrifices.
