Gov. Tina Kotek attends a rally opposing data centers outside the Oregon State Capitol on Sept. 8. On Wednesday, Kotek directed the state to develop guidelines for its use of advanced artificial intelligence.

Gov. Tina Kotek on Wednesday directed Oregon government to come up with ways to regulate its use of artificial intelligence, as warnings about the technology’s growing safety risks become increasingly dire.
