A Myrtle Pt. area resident was arrested on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol, Wednesday, July 16. According to reports, 23-year old Nolan R. Churan, who had an address on Lampa Ln., but also an address in Costa Mesa, CA, was arrested on a charge of Unlawful Activities: Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon – Sword, Possession of High-Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Unregistered Firearm & Unregistered Ammunition. Law enforcement was alerted to Churan following a report of his Subaru Outback, described as an “unusual vehicle” in an area reserved for congressional staff and with an adult tri-cycle strapped on the roof, parked on the 200 block of Pennsylvania Ave., NW. Officers also found a bow & arrow as well as an empty gun holster. Churan was located just outside the north barricade and detained for questioning. A further search of the vehicle turned up other weapons some antiques.
