City of North Bend release - Thank you to the North Bend residents, businesses, elected officials, and city staff who participated in our Strategic Planning Survey, sharing their vision for North Bend’s future. Your input is helping shape the City Council’s priorities as we work toward a thriving, safe, and prosperous community.  Top Priorities Identified:  Infrastructure Improvements – Roads, utilities, and wastewater system upgrades.  Housing Affordability & Availability – Expanding options and addressing homelessness.  Public Safety & Community Well-being – Strengthening emergency services and tackling public safety concerns.  Economic & Workforce Development – Supporting local businesses and creating living-wage jobs.  Community & Environmental Quality – Enhancing parks, public spaces, and environmental stewardship.  Next Steps:  The City Council will discuss these priorities at the Strategic Planning Work Session on February 24th. This public session begins at 4:30 pm in North Bend City Council Chambers and will help finalize our Vision, Mission, and Priority Areas for the future of North Bend.  Your voice matters! Stay engaged and help us build a North Bend that thrives for generations.

Congratulations to Deputy Stroming for recently completing Patrol training! Lane County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to Patrol must complete the Field Training and Evaluation Process (FTEP). They also attend Basic Police Academy at the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Deputy Stroming has been with the Sheriff's Office for 9 years and reassigned to Patrol after working in the Lane County Jail. While at the jail, he served as a Field Training Officer, was a member of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT), and continues to serve on the Peer Support Team. Deputy Stroming also has additional training and experience from deploying to SWAT calls as a Tactical Emergency Medic with the Special Response Team (SRT). Want to join the family? We’re hiring!
