MAYOR'S MESSAGE Happy Halloween! Have Fun. Enjoy the Costumes. Stay Safe. Today, October 30, the streets of Downtown Coos Bay will be filled with little ghosts, goblins, and plenty of creative costumes as the Coos Bay Downtown Association (CBDA) hosts its annual Trick-or-Treat event! More than 100 businesses are expected to participate, with potentially more than 1,000 children and families visiting the Downtown District, including Front Street and the Coos Bay Village area. Participating businesses will display a large orange flyer in their windows. If you’re in the area, stop by to enjoy the festive costumes and help make this a fun, happy, and safe event for everyone. The event runs from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on October 30, 2026. The City of Coos Bay is proud to support this annual tradition. Be sure to stop by City Hall, the Coos Bay Public Library, and Coos Bay Fire Station, where City staff will be handing out candy. With Halloween tomorrow, October 31, we also encourage everyone to take extra care on the roads. Please slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for children and families in residential areas as trick-or-treaters head out for Halloween festivities. The Coos Bay Fire Department will also be visiting various residential neighborhoods throughout town on Halloween to pass out candy to trick-or-treaters. A heartfelt thank-you to all the local businesses and community partners who help make this annual tradition possible. Have fun, enjoy the costumes, and stay safe! -Joe Benetti, Mayor of Coos Bay
