The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln spent more than 260 days at sea before the Navy disclosed that eight sailors in the strike group attempted suicide during the deployment. (AP Photo/Sakchai Lalit)

Eight sailors assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group attempted suicide during the group’s lengthy deployment supporting military operations linked to the conflict with Iran, according to a letter from Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao. The information was provided to Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand after she asked questions about the well-being of sailors serving aboard the carrier and its supporting ships, military.com reported.
