YouthLine volunteers, who answer a crisis helpline for young people, decline to give last names to protect their identities from callers.

Gov. Tina Kotek held a ceremonial signing Thursday for a bill to protect teenagers and others in fragile mental health from the poor judgment of AI chatbots, which have been documented helping people plan their own suicide.
