A woman picks up trash near a large factory in Vietnam that makes Nike footwear. The woman said she had worked at the factory for 20 years. She said her wages didn’t cover her bills, forcing her to collect and sell scrap on Sunday, the one day the factory is closed.

A middle-aged woman stooped over and picked through trash one May morning near a factory in Vietnam that makes Nike sneakers. She wore a frayed pink hoodie, tattered jeans and a conical bamboo hat. One sock didn’t quite cover her foot.
