Description
The Portland Woman’s Club – one of the oldest still-operating clubs in the city – was founded as a place for women to advocate for their community and have a political voice at a time when they did not have the right to vote. During the women’s suffrage era, and with noted activist Sarah A. Evans as president, the club had more than 500 members.
