NORTH BEND MAN SHOT AFTER BREAKING INTO COOS BAY HOME  
  
A North Bend man was shot after he broke into a Coos Bay home armed with a golf club.  
On April 12, 2024, at approximately 00:55 a.m., the North Coos 9-1-1 Center received a call from a resident in the 700 block of Johnson Avenue in Coos Bay. The resident requested help from police and medical personnel for a man who had been shot after breaking into their home. Officers from the Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) arrived, took custody of the suspect, and aided with medical care until medics arrived.  
  
David Holmes, 28, of North Bend, was shot by a resident of the home after he broke in with a golf club. During the investigation, the residents were cooperative with CBPD officers and provided statements. The residents did not know Mr. Holmes.  
  
Mr. Holmes was transported by Bay Cities Ambulance (BCA) to receive further medical attention.  
  
The CBPD considers this to be an isolated incident and does not believe there is any continuing threat to the community.  
  
The CBPD was aided on scene by the North Bend Police Department (NBPD), the Oregon State Police (OSP), and the Coos Bay Fire Department (CBFD).
