Description

ODFW release - SALEM, Ore. – ODFW is seeking applicants for two vacancies on its Access & Habitat Board, announcing openings for both a Landowner Representative and a Hunter Representative.  Applications will be accepted through Sept. 18, 2026. To apply, visit the A&H Program’s “Get Involved” page at http://www.dfw.state.or.us/lands/AH/get_involved.asp.  ODFW encourages candidates with backgrounds in hunting, wildlife conservation, forestry, or agriculture to apply. Ownership of a farm, ranch, or timberland is not required for the Landowner Representative seat, though applicants should have experience in forestry or agriculture and a demonstrated interest in hunting and wildlife conservation.  Statewide Board members serve four‑year terms following appointment by the Fish and Wildlife Commission. The Board meets quarterly in communities around Oregon to review project funding requests, gather public input, and act as a link between the A&H Program and the public. Hunter Representatives provide insight from a hunter’s perspective to ensure those interests are reflected in project decisions, while Landowner Representatives bring forward landowner viewpoints to help guide the program’s work.  The A&H Board consists of seven volunteer members—three hunter representatives, three landowner representatives, and a chair—who evaluate and recommend wildlife habitat improvement and hunter access projects to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission. The program is funded by a $4 surcharge on hunting licenses, along with revenue generated from deer and elk raffle entries and auction tags.  Additional information about the program, including the latest A&H Biennium Report, is available on the A&H webpage. For questions about the positions, contact Travis Schultz at 503‑947‑6087.
