Description
In September 2026, Lane County Detectives working with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force began investigating a case involving the alleged luring of a minor and online sexual corruption. The victim was located in Lane County. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Cody Allen Hinze, 28, of Oregon City. Hinze had previously been released from prison early in July 2026 after being sentenced for similar offenses. On October 20, 2026, with the assistance of Clackamas County Parole and Probation, Hinze was taken back into custody. On October 30, 2026, a Lane County Grand Jury indicted Hinze on six counts of Luring a Minor and Attempted Use of a Child in a Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct. This case is still active and additional victims may exist. LCSO detectives are asking anyone with information related to this investigation or who believes they may have been victimized by Hinze to contact law enforcement. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office can be reached by calling 541-682-4150.
