May 29, 2026 - OPB has been honored with four 2026 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) for its work in digital and broadcast journalism serving communities across the Northwest.
The awards highlight OPB’s reporting on broad range of Pacific Northwest subjects and across multiple disciplines and channels.
“This year’s Regional Murrow Award winners reflect OPB’s commitment to connecting people across the Pacific Northwest through the power of a shared story,” said Jason Potts, OPB senior vice president and chief content officer. “We celebrate these awards alongside OPB members, whose continued support ensures we can do this important work.”

Oregon Public Broadcasting’s digital news coverage in 2025 covered the impacts of the second Trump administration on the Pacific Northwest, including heightened immigration enforcement and the president’s push to deploy the National Guard to Portland. OPB also provided deep community-focused storytelling, including finishing a 13-year project on high school graduation rates and taking an in-depth look at the history of Native American boarding schools in Oregon.

Edward R. Murrow Awards
Among the most prestigious honors in journalism, the Edward R. Murrow Awards are named for the pioneering radio and television broadcaster of the 1940s and ‘50s, known for his independence and incisive reporting. The awards are presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), which is the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to broadcast and digital journalism.
Regional Murrow Awards are presented to small and large radio, television and digital outlets based on 14 geographic regions. OPB was named a winner in RTDNA’s Region 1, which includes entries from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Regional Murrow Award winners are automatically considered for a national award. National winners will be announced in August, followed by a celebration at the 2026 Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala on Oct. 12 at Gotham Hall in New York City.
