Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity in southern Oregon is building its 99th home.Brandi Long is working alongside Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity contractors and volunteers to finish her family home in Ashland.Two duplex-style buildings for four households are being constructed on a once-vacant corner lot in Ashland.The townhomes will have a living room and kitchen area, and a powder room on the main level. Upstairs, there will be three bedrooms and a bathroom.The foundation has been poured for the second duplex-style building to be constructed on a once-vacant corner lot in Ashland.The side-by-side townhomes have views of Grizzly Peak from the second story and a one-car garage in the back.Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteer labor and donated materials to keep costs low.To keep costs low, Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers guided by professional contractors, donations and gifted materials as well as ReStore donations and purchases.Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity is building four townhouses on a corner lot in Ashland.Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity is building four townhouses on a corner lot in Ashland.A 1,623-square-foot Craftsman-style single-family house, for sale at $567,000, was built in 2000 on a 3,920-square-foot lot in Ashland, across the street from the Habitat for Humanity townhouses under construction.Elizabeth Sesma-Olinyk of Central Point has been volunteering on the construction crew for Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity since November 2023.

On a blue-sky day in September, Brandi Long smiled as she stood in front of her unfinished Ashland townhouse. Two builders with the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity organization were onsite, hammering away as Long spoke of her hands-on and other hard work to have a permanent home for her family.
