Description

Portland’s City Council gathers at Portland City Hall in early February. Seven councilors were the subject of a recent batch of complaints alleging that they had violated Oregon's public meetings law by privately discussing council business in a quorum. State officials say the meetings law could use some refinement to clear up ambiguities.

State officials are pushing to shore up Oregon’s public meeting law to better ensure that elected officials and others with government powers don’t discuss public business in private.
