U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jorge L. De Anda, incoming commander of the 2nd Battalion, 186th Infantry Regiment, Oregon Army National Guard, unfurls the battalion's new colors during a redesignation ceremony at Eastern Oregon University's football field in La Grande, Ore., Sept. 12, 2026. The 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment was redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, 186th Infantry Regiment during the ceremony, reconnecting the unit with an infantry lineage dating back to 1888.
