Miranda Clendening led people on the southern part of the Oregon Coast Trail Oct. 17, 2026 to introduce them to the Oregon Peace Trail experience.The Oregon Peace Trail group started in the morning of Oct. 17, 2026, on their 9-mile round-trip walk from southern Oregon’s Bastendorff Beach to Yoakam Point, Sunset Bay and Shore Acres.Al Jubitz uses his trekking pole to point out where a Peace Pole can be installed along the Oregon Coast Trail to introduce the Oregon Peace Trail.Larry Stober, co-founder of the Oregon Peace Trail with Al Jubitz and David Wick, spoke about cooperation. “We’re here on the Oregon Peace Trail in Coos Bay, and we’re talking about cooperation, one of the seven peace actions. We’re cooperating with Trailkeepers of Oregon, the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, many Rotarians and a bunch of hikers.”David Wick, wearing a People for Peace cap, spoke on what the peace action of unity means to him. “Unity is how we live together, realizing that we are in life together, sharing, exploring, and being grateful for what we have,” he said.Al Jubitz thought about the peace actions of oneness and friendship: “It just doesn’t take but a short distance and a beautiful, natural forest to realize that we are at one with Earth and nature, and when we pass people on the trail, or they pass us, we realize we’re one with all people. The trail, the people, are the joy of life.”Jeremy Stober said the peace action faithSteve Clendening, walk leader Miranda’s father, thought about the peace action of love: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to be here with my daughter, who has big visions, and in this setting. I love it,” he said.Kathy Jubitz explained what the peace action of abundance meant to her: “I think abundance is gratitude. Peace builder Miranda Clendening was leading a small group Saturday along the Oregon Coast Trail when she stopped and invited the day hikers to feel their oneness with the forest and ocean.
