E-Block at Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. The state this week settled a federal lawsuit alleging that it had failed to protect prisoners from COVID-19 exposure.

The state of Oregon this week agreed to pay $49 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging the state failed to protect prisoners who were exposed to COVID-19 in 2020 through 2022.
