A North Carolina family is suing Google, claiming its artificial intelligence tools contributed to a serious mental health crisis involving their 13-year-old daughter and her school-issued Chromebook. The girl, identified as Emma in court papers, began heavily using Gemini-powered AI Mode in December 2025, according to the complaint filed in California. No court has ruled that Google caused the alleged harm.
