Officials with Portland Community College announced Wednesday evening they’ve reached a tentative agreement with the college’s classified employee union.
The deal ends a historic two-week strike between PCC and the Federation of Classified Employees, which represents 700 staff members.
The agreement includes no cost-of-living adjustment for this year, but 5% for 2026-27.
It also includes a lump sum payment of about $1,400 for all classified employees, enhanced health benefits and stronger worker protections.
“This strike was about dignity, fairness, and the basic right of workers to afford to live in the community where they work,” Jeff Grider, PCCFCE President, said in a statement. “While no contract is perfect, this agreement provides raises and protections our members earned through their courage and solidarity.”
Union members will vote to ratify the deal on Thursday. If approved, classified employees will return to work on Monday, March 30.
PCC’s Federation of Faculty and Academic Professionals remains on strike and is continuing negotiations with college leaders.
In a statement on Wednesday, PCC officials said a deal is also very close with its faculty union, but that compensation related to strike time remains a topic of discussion.
“We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved in returning to the table and working toward a resolution,” PCC President Adrien Bennings said in a statement. “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with our classified union. This outcome reflects the value of continued dialogue and good-faith collaboration.”
Union officials called on Oregon Governor Tina Kotek on Wednesday to intervene as the strike enters its third week.
