Julia Brim-Edwards (left), Shannon Singleton and Sharon Meieran (right) are all are vying to replace Chair Jessica Vega Perderson, who is not seeking a second term, in November’s election — the first at the county to use ranked-choice voting.

The problems confronting Multnomah County, the primary social service provider for one-fifth of all Oregonians, are as plentiful as they are pronounced.
