***Perspective***
This evening, September 5th 2026 at 7:28 p.m. a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for a traffic violation on West Beaver Hill Road near Hemlock Lane.
The operator began digging with his hand between his legs, as the deputy approached.
The deputy immediately observed the man was trying to either grab or conceal a black firearm.
The deputy handled the situation with a calm demeanor and was clear with his orders which ultimately ended without serious incident.
The gun was a replica BB gun with no markings/coloring indicating it was not a firearm. A large fixed blade know was also located near the replica BB gun.
As a result of the stop the driver, Jon P. Corby (54) was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and is being referred to the Coos County D.A.’s Office on the charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
