Description

Federal agents lobbed tear gas and flash bangs at protesters in front of the ICE building on January 31, 2026. Since 2025, the city and the landlord have been locked in a protracted legal and administrative dispute over the facility’s operations and land-use approval.

The owner of Portland’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility is continuing to fight the city’s decision that it can fine the landlord over land-use violations, including how long detainees have been held at the site.
