Description
Noisy Creek, the company that owns the Portland Mercury and The Stranger in Seattle, has now acquired the Chicago Reader alt-weekly.
Founded in 1971, The Reader has a venerable tradition but laid off employees in January and said it faced potential closure. The paper didn’t disclose terms of its sale but said that its deal with Noisy Creek puts the Reader on solid footing.
