Surveillance footage showed U.S. Postal worker Patrick E. Wright ripping open greeting card mail at the Hines post office in 2024, according to a postal inspector's investigation.

A U.S. postal worker stole an average of $50 to $100 a week for about six months by tearing open greeting cards and pocketing the cash and gift cards inside -- often intended for his neighbors in tiny Hines in southeastern Oregon, population 1,600.
