Prep FB Playoffs

Marshfield (10-1) and Henley (8-2) will meet for a second-time this season; however, this time it’s to determine who plays in the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union State 4A Football Championships. The two, both from Special District 4, met at Henley Oct. 24th to determine the league championship and the Hornets won, 21-6. On Friday night, both won home quarter-final games to advance to the semi-final round. No. 3 Henley beat Estacada, 42-0, while No. 2 Marshfield struggled with visiting La Grande, but won 33-21. The winner plays the winner of the Cascade (11-0) vs. Scappoose (10-1) semi-final. No. 1 Cascade beat No. 4 Scappoose, 59-37, Sept. 12, at Turner, in a preseason game.

Prep FB Semi-Finals

Marshfield (10-1) and Henley (8-2) will meet for a second time this season in the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 4A State Football semi-finals, Saturday, Nov. 22, 4:30 p.m., Mel Ingram Field, Grants Pass. Cascade (11-0) and Scappoose (10-1) will meet in the other semi-final, Saturday, 2 p.m., at McMinnville HS. Henley and Marshfield are from the same league, SD-4. The Hornets beat the visiting Pirates, Oct. 24th, 21-6 for Homecoming. Cascade and Scappoose played in the preseason at Cascade. The Cougars won 59-37, at Turner, Sept. 12th. In the 3A bracket, No. 1 Cascade Christian (11-0) will take on No. 12 Gervais (8-3), Saturday, Nov. 22, 4:30 p.m., at Cottage Grove HS. The other semi-final has No. 3 Burns (10-1) and No. 2 Banks (11-0) at Summit HS, Saturday, 2:30 p.m., Bend. Gervais, a 2A school, is playing up this season, but did not play CC in the regular or preseason. The Cougars three losses were all in-a-row, to Banks 41-20, Warrenton 19-12, and Kennedy 17-14. Banks and Burns have not met this year. In the 2A – No. 3 Bandon (10-0) will play No. 2 Lost River (10-1), Saturday, 1 p.m. at Grants Pass HS. The other 2A semi-finalists, No. 4 St. Paul (8-2) and No. 1 Heppner, (11-0) will meet at Summit HS, Saturday, 6 p.m. Bandon and Lost River have not played each other this season. Same for St. Paul and Heppner. In the 1A-8 – No. 4 Crosspoint Christian (8-2) will play No. 1 Dufur (10-0), Saturday, 11 a.m., at Summit HS. No. 2 Adrian (10-0) and No. 3 Union (8-2) will play at 4:30 p.m., Baker HS. Adrian and Union are both from the same league, SD-4. The Antelopes beat the Bobcats, 38-0, on Halloween, Oct. 31st. Crosspoint Christian and Dufur played in the preseason, Sept. 12th, and Dufur won 20-12, at Summit HS. In the 1A-6, No. 4 Elkton (8-1) takes on No. 9 Crow (8-2), Saturday, 1 p.m., Cottage Grove HS. And No. 8 Sherman (9-2) plays No. 2 Harper Charter (10-0), 1 p.m., at Baker HS. Elkton and Crow are from the same league, SD3. The Elks beat the Cougars, 34-0 at home, Oct. 10th. Sherman and Harper Charter are from the same league, SD1. The Hornets beat the Huskies, Oct. 17th, 59-26. All of the games will be broadcast live on the OSAA Radio Network.

Prep SC Championships

Marist Catholic’s girls’ soccer team did what the Spartans volleyball team did a week earlier and that was to beat The Dalles/Dufur for the 4A OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union State Championship, Saturday, at Liberty HS in Hillsboro, 2-0. No. 1 Stayton won the boy’s title, 1-0, over North Marion. Westside Christian’s boys, beat No. 1 Catlin Gabel, 2-1 for the 3A/2A/1A championship. And, Amity beat No. 1 Valley Catholic, 2-1, for the 3A/2A/1A title.

Prep Winter Sports

Just as Prep Football is down to the final couple of weeks at the tail end of the Fall Sports Season, Winter Sports is gearing up for their seasons. The OSAA allows its member schools to start practice on Monday, Nov. 17th for Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming, Cheer & Dance. First contests will be allowed on Dec. 3rd.
