Description
I was dismayed to learn of a pastor’s recent decision to revoke his offer of admission to a same-sex couple wanting to enroll their children at St. Agatha Catholic School in Southeast Portland. Days later, I was elated to see the response. Families supportive of the couple put up a lemonade stand where customers received drinks in rainbow-striped cups, and all proceeds went to Basic Rights Oregon, a nonprofit that advocates for LGBTQ+ rights, (“How a lemonade stand came to symbolize fight against LGBTQ+ bias at Portland Catholic school,” Aug. 5).
