The article by The Oregonian/OregonLive’s Mike Rogoway explains Senate Bill 1586’s impacts to Oregon taxpayers by extending already-generous tax breaks to businesses including data centers (“Oregon lawmakers consider adding Hillsboro industrial land and, for data centers, even bigger tax breaks,” Feb. 3). However, I disagree with the assertion that the 1,700 acres of world-class farmland that the bill would bring into Hillsboro would not be used for data centers.
