The Oregonian/OregonLive article profiling newly elected Portland Public Schools board members suggests they might be open to a different emphasis for their future deliberations, (“At Portland Public Schools, a ‘mom takeover’ and a brewing storm,” July 23). A former PPS board adopted a policy of providing an equitable curriculum at the district’s high schools. Certainly, there are lessons that are beneficial to all students, but high school also offers students a choice of electives to further individual student interests.
