Description
I’m not surprised that TriMet is losing money on every rider, ("TriMet ridership remains down by a third from 2019, and the recovery is slowing,” April 27). I wonder if they only count the riders who actually pay their fare. In my experience, many bus riders enter through the back door (“the deadbeat door”) and don’t tap. And I would bet that at least half the riders on every MAX have not paid. If TriMet got serious about checking fares and writing citations, I think the gap would go down significantly.
