I’m sure Portland City Council President Jamie Dunphy didn’t know that the letter writer who suggested covering up his tattoos with a long-sleeved shirt was a 95-year-old woman, (“Portland council president blasts 95-year-old constituent for her ‘small-minded’ tattoo critique,” March 11). But her mild letter and Dunphy’s over-the-top reaction demonstrate that while Dunphy thought he was striking a blow for body positivity and tolerance, he might need to check his own imperiousness and assumptions.
