It’s a sad commentary on our state police that there is no one more qualified than Joey Pollard to be the head of the Newport state police office, (“Oregon’s top cop approves rare waiver landing his rehired buddy a big promotion,” Jan. 24). Or could it be that Oregon State Police Superintendent Casey Codding is simply rewarding a friend?
