Here’s why and what that means for Oregon City,” April 2). The Oregonian/OregonLive should be commended for reinvesting in coverage of Oregon City.

Dunes Family Health Care welcomes Shynar Johnson, PA-C! Please join us in welcoming Shynar Johnson, PA-C to DFHC. Shynar was born and raised in Kazakhstan, where her interest in medicine began early in life. She watched her mother care for their community as the only primary care provider in their hometown, and that experience inspired her passion for serving rural and underserved populations. She graduated from Karaganda Medical University with both a bachelor’s degree and a doctoral degree in General Medicine. During her training, she spent time at Taiwan National University School of Medicine in Taipei where she completed clinical electives in Radiology and Emergency Medicine. After moving to the United States, Shynar began volunteering in local clinics and hospitals, gaining most of her U.S. clinical experience through hands‑on work. She spent much of her time at Concord Community Free Clinic in North Carolina, learning from experienced physicians and family nurse practitioners who helped shape her clinical style and confidence. In 2025, she earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. Oregon had always felt special to her, and her husband’s family is from the southern coast. Over the past 10 years, she visited often and grew to love the people, the nature, and the sense of community. That connection played a big part in her decision to move to Oregon, and in 2026 she joined the Dunes Family Health Care team as a Primary Care Provider. Outside of medicine, Shynar enjoys spending time with her four Airedale Terriers, cooking meals inspired by her Kazakh roots, and exploring the outdoors with her husband. Welcome, Shynar! Our Patrol Division worked hard throughout 2025 to keep Lincoln County safe, supported, and connected. Here are some highlights from the year: - Calls for service were up. Our team handled 23,275 calls for service, made 500 arrests, issued 203 criminal citations, and assigned 1,842 cases. - Our team arrested 25 online predators that were targeting minors. - Patrol participated in many community events including National Night Out, Coffee with a Deputy, Latine Cultural Fest, Resource Café, school presentations, and Shop with a Cop. - Forrest Patrol investigated and tagged over 45 abandoned vehicles and removed 40 of them with strong partnership from Solid Waste. - Marine completed at least 1,468 vessel contacts, issued 190 warnings and 45 citations. - Community Services completed a combined 394 inspections or complaint inquires on short term rentals in addition to handling 261 code violations. - Animal Services handled 1,416 calls, including 41 dog bite reports and a neglect case involving 16 dogs. - Search and Rescue responded to 16 missions.
