With bipartisanship in short supply in Oregon and nationally, the Oregon Legislature should be applauded for its work to pass House Bill 4134, which now awaits the governor’s signature (“Oregon lawmakers pass bill to raise lodging tax,” March 4). Former U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio, testifying in Salem, called the bill a “unicorn” because it brought together hunters and anglers, birders, farmers, conservationists, ranchers and businesses from across the state to support an investment in Oregon’s natural legacy and livelihoods.
