The manifestly unjust arrest and imprisonment of Mateo Gabriel Mendoza — a shocking kidnapping under color of law — is hardly surprising, given what passes for justice these days when allegations target a person of color, (“‘It wasn’t me’: Portland teen jailed nearly 2 weeks on mistaken identity rape charge,” June 17).
