A plan to fill Ross Island Lagoon with toxic waste from the Portland Harbor Superfund site, (“Is Portland’s Superfund site the key to fixing Ross Island,” April 7) has been referred to as an “elegant” solution that supports Superfund cleanup while restoring Ross Island. In reality, it’s a short-sighted idea that doesn’t adequately consider the risks of what it would do.
