Description
The U.S. Forest Service is making false claims about the Roadless Rule (“Trump plan could open nearly 2 million protected Oregon acres to development, 45 million in the West,” Aug. 20). The service’s public relations campaign insists that rescinding this rule will reduce wildfire risk, but in its draft environmental impact statement, the service’s own scientists conclude that the changes will actually increase the likelihood of fire starts. This deception is appalling, especially in an era of record-breaking fire seasons.
