Description

Oregon House Speaker Julie Fahey, a Eugene Democrat, is a chief sponsor of a proposal to restrict legislators to 25 bills. Though five Republicans have signed on as chief sponsors, other Republicans are vocally opposed.

A bill that would attempt to avoid a repeat of the record logjam of bills filed this session has encountered forceful opposition from some Republicans, who say it will give Democrats, as the party in power, the upper hand and further squelch minority voices.
