Led by Rotary Club of Sisters, some 50 volunteers from the community gathered to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The beds were built, donated, and installed for local children. The motto “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town” reflected the Rotary Club’s goal of Service Above Self. The club build 35 beds to be shared in Central Oregon communities.
Supported by a Rotary District grant, the Club purchased lumber, bought mattresses and bedding through member donations, partnered with the local Kiwanis Club, and even provided handmade quilts through the Sisters Quilt Guild for each child’s bed.
“This project was exemplary,” said Rotarian Team Leader Hal Darcey, “of how a small town will work together in support of its citizens. A total of 3,000 beds have been distriputed in the Central Oregon area. Here is the link to the RI Magazine article:
