Just after midnight on August 6th, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an area hospital where a victim of an attempted robbery had been dropped off with a gunshot wound. Deputies learned two men attempted to rob the victim at his home in the 2000 block of Harbor Drive, Springfield, at gun point. They shot one victim and struck another victim with the handgun, then fled. Detectives determined the suspect who shot the victim was Douglas Gene Baker, 43, of Eugene. On August 8th around midnight, Eugene Police officers located Baker in Eugene. A pistol was found in his possession that was consistent with the robbery. After additional investigation, Baker was arrested on the Lane County Sheriff’s Office case and lodged at the Lane County Jail on the following initial charges: - Attempted Robbery in the 1st Degree; - Assault in the 2nd Degree; - Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. He was also lodged on a Parole Violation detainer. Thanks to Eugene Police for their assistance with this case.
