Sen. Sara Gelser Blouin​, D-Corvallis, said Gov. Tina Kotek never talked to her about concerns over the bill before she vetoed it.

Oregon senators rebuked Gov. Tina Kotek on Wednesday, voting overwhelmingly to override her veto of a bill that would strengthen and expand protections for Oregon’s foster youth.

PROJECT COMPLETE: EASTSIDE BOAT RAMP PARKING LOT MAINTENANCE We’re proud to announce the completion of the Eastside Boat Ramp Parking Lot Maintenance Project! Thanks to funding from the Oregon State Marine Board’s Small Grant Program, the parking lot has been: ✅ Crack-sealed ✅ Sealcoated ✅ Restriped These improvements provide a safer, smoother experience for boaters and park users, while preserving the integrity of this vital community facility. 🎉 Partial funding was provided by the Oregon State Marine Board Boating Facility Grant Program, investing fees and marine fuel taxes paid by motorized boaters. A big thank you to OSMB for supporting local boating infrastructure, and to our dedicated Public Works team for overseeing project delivery. The City also contributed in-kind staff time to help meet match requirements and maximize grant dollars. ☀️ With summer in full swing, the Eastside Boat Ramp is ready to welcome residents and visitors for many seasons to come. See you on the water! 🛶

UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE COOS BAY LIBRARY The Coos Bay Public Library will be closed July 4 & 5 but will reopen at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7. Monday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m. men aged 18 and up are invited to join the open men’s group at the Library. Meet up with other men in friendship and brotherhood. Baby Storytime is held every Tuesday from 10-10:30 a.m. Bring your little one to enjoy songs, stories and movement! For kids ages 7-14 Book Explorers will meet from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1 when they will discuss the book Lawn Boy by Gary Paulsen. Stop by the Library to pick up a copy of the book and then join the group to eat cookies and make your own cardboard lawn mower. Wednesday, July 2 Toddler and preschool children with their caregivers are invited to Summer Reading Storytime from 10-10:30 a.m. Sing, read, talk and play in this interactive session. On Thursday, July 3 Teas, Tinctures, and Tonics will be bringing their delicious beverages to the Library for our monthly tea tasting from 12-2 p.m. Come check out their latest offerings!
