WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH PROCLAMATION

At the March 3, 2026, City Council meeting, the Coos Bay City Council unanimously passed a proclamation designating March as Women’s History Month.

This annual observance recognizes the significant contributions women have made throughout history through leadership, innovation, public service, education, business, the arts, and community advocacy. The proclamation also acknowledges the resilience and determination of women who have strengthened our nation, the State of Oregon, and the City of Coos Bay.

The 2026 Women’s History Month theme, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” highlights the vital role women play in building strong, equitable, and sustainable communities. From shaping local policy and advancing education to supporting economic development and environmental stewardship, women continue to lead efforts that positively impact Coos Bay and beyond.

Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women of all backgrounds, honor those who have shaped our past, and inspire future generations to lead and serve.

The City encourages residents to recognize the women who have helped build our community and those who continue to guide its future.
