A 47-year old Central Coast male was sentenced to 18-months in prison for shooting and killing his neighbor’s black lab alleging the six-year old female had been coming on to his property eating food and damaging things. Tyson Kay, of Newport, later told police he shot her to protect baby chicks living on the property. The dog had to be euthanized. Kay was found guilty of two-counts of Animal Abuse and sentenced to a year-an-a-half in prison and 24-months of post prison probation.
