Smashed bean and sausage toasts

These luxuriously rich toasts are garlicky and substantial thanks to a topping of caramelized sausage and beans that are partially mashed until creamy and saucy. Slices of crisp celery, aromatic fresh oregano and lemon juice, stirred in after the sausage has browned, balance the hearty flavors. Serve with a brightly dressed green salad.
